There is an SEO theory which suggests that mass directory submission will get your website into Google sandbox.
The basic idea is if your new website has too many links all of a sudden, usually due to mass submission in a short time, your website will be ‘jailed’ by Google.
Is it true? Let’s find out in this little test that I’ve done.
In my test, I built 3 40-page content websites and then did the following IMMEDIATELY:
- For 2 of the websites, I bookmarked them at Digg and Propeller (as what I usually do to promote new websites) and submit them to 1000 link directories (outsourced).
- For the third website, I only submit them to 1000 link directories. Forgot to submit to Digg and Propeller actually.
After 3 days……
All three websites got indexed in Google, one with 100% of the pages indexed and the other two with 50% indexed.
From my experience, it is unusual that new websites get 100% indexed. Usually, if your website has 40 pages, about 10-20 pages will be indexed initially. I believe this is because there isn’t enough link popularity for the new site.
But in this test, one website got 100% indexed. Is it a coincidence or it’s the effect of 1000 directory submission? Em…
How about the traffic?
There is a surge in traffic to all 3 website in the first few days. This is expected because link directories owners are evaluating the website for listing.
But after 7 days……
One website average about 20 visitors a day and the other two websites average about 40 visitors a day.
Frankly, I like what I’m seeing.
To give you an idea, my other websites with ’slow’ link building process are getting 5 to 10 visitors a day initially. These 3 websites are really having a great start.
Are all the traffic from Google?
Not really. Two websites have most of the search engine traffic from Google. One has most of the search engine traffic from Microsoft Live. Besides search engine traffic, te websites also have traffic from Digg, Propeller and tons of link directories.
The websites are now 2 weeks old and the traffic has been pretty consistent.
From this little test, I’ve yet to see any sandbox effect on these 3 websites as a result of mass directory submission.
On the contrary, I’m seeing Search Engines giving my websites more priority as a result of more initial links.
Will Google ‘jail’ the websites after some time? Well, only time can tell. But I’ll surely keep you informed.

I’m in the midst of doing some touch up for LeadsLeap sales letter. While writing the sales letter, I recalled some powerful tips Ewen Chia has shared with me (personally, over a cup of coffee).
Remember I told you that Ewen likes to compose and test different kinds of sales letters? Talking about writing powerful sales letters, I truly believe that he’s the MAN, not because he is famous but because a number of my successful clients (those who advertise with me) use his strategies.
In today’s blog post, I’m going to share with you 3 powerful tips that chances are, no one has told you before.
I’ll use one of his actual sales letters to illustrate to you how to use these 3 strategies.
1) Convert every testimonial into a headline
We all know that adding testimonials is a powerful way to increase the conversion rate. What most advanced marketers do when it comes to adding testimonials is to add a photograph, add an audio testimonial and highlight some of the important quotes.
One thing that Ewen did differently is that he will take one phrase from each of his testimonial and turn it into a headline for that particular testimonial.

Do you see that every testimonial has a red color headline?
Fact is, most people are not going to read every testimonial. These outstanding headlines allow the prospects to quickly grasp the gist of every testimonial. The idea is to quickly increase the confidence of the prospects in you and your product without having to go through every testimonial.

2) Create a summary break down of the value of each offer and let the audience know what is the total value
Many marketers like to throw in lots of bonuses to increase the perceived value of their offer. This has been a known strategy to increase the conversion rate.
But when this ideas was popularized, what most marketers did was to overwhelm the prospects with so many bonuses that the prospects lost focus.
The idea of adding bonuses is to increase the overall value of your offer. To achieve this ultimate objective, Ewen created a table that lists down every offer that he’s made and attach a monetary value to each offer. You may think this is hype. It is. But it works!
I’ve been in the advertising industry for more than 2 years now. Everyone says they don’t like hype. But the truth is they do. A hyped up sales letter sells better than a no-hype sales letter, especially in an advertising environment, i.e. strangers selling to strangers.
3) Re-emphasize the main benefits of your product before asking your prospects to buy
After reading a long sales letter, it is indeed possible for someone to lose focus on what’s your main offer.
Also, have you ever come across a long sales letter with everything under the sun but the only thing that you fail to find is the price? This is not a joke. I ever read a sales letter in which I had to use the search function to search for the ‘$’ sign so as to find out how much the product cost!
What Ewen likes to do is to put everything into a box, just before asking the prospects to buy.

First he reiterated the main product offer. Then he re-affirmed the main benefits that the prospect will receive, the price of the product and the money back guarantee.
I like his style, both as a marketer and as a potential buyer. With this summary, I know exactly what I’m going to get and what I can expect.
One last thing to note is that his call for action is never “Buy Now”. His calls for action are usually reiteration of the benefit of his product, for example, “Yes, I Want To Become A Super Affiliate Now” or to create a sense of urgency, for example, “Get in now before the price shoots up soon without warning!”.
Last week, I wrote an article called How To Find Your Own Niche In Internet Marketing.
One reader feedback to me with the following comment:
“This article addressed on finding a unique strength and then making it into IM. But it does not address on the issue on what if the niche market is too small, and there are not enough customers to feed this niche business. Customers are a reason why businesses are successful; too small a target size of customers, and the profits will sink, together with a sinking business.”
To give you a better picture, I decide to discuss this topic again.
In my last article, I said that you should understand your personal talent, leverage on that talent and convert it into your own niche in internet marketing.
So, what if your talent or strength is in a niche market that is too small and is unprofitable?
My answer is simple; just use your talent in a niche market that is big and profitable!
In internet marketing, the term niche has been commonly used to refer to a particular “niche market” and that’s why when I wrote convert your talent into a niche, some of you may think that I’m talking about converting your interest into a business.
That’s not what I mean.
Let’s look at the actual definition of a niche. A niche is a position particularly well suited to the person who occupies it.
That’s what I mean.
Regardless of which “niche market” you are in, you can always make full use of your talent and carve a niche for yourself in the “niche market”.
I hope you see my point now.
I feel that the best is to give you some real-life examples:
Internet marketing expert, Derrick VanDyke, started as a programmer, helping some of the big names to do programming work. Today, he leverages on his programming talent and creates a system to help his members to build lists and make money. My observation tells me that Derrick’s strength is probably not in marketing. Neither is he a seminar person who likes to speak in front of the crowd. (No offence, Derrick.) But that doesn’t stop him from becoming one of the most successful and respectable marketers out there.
Todd Gross is a national on-air television meteorologist. Speaking in front of the video cam is like his second nature. Todd applies his talent to internet marketing and created PreSaleVideos.com, a powerful presale tool that converts sales like crazy.
Both of them manage to carve a niche for themselves by focusing on doing what they are good at.
So, my 3 simple steps to start your online career remain unchanged:
1) Study how the internet marketing works (This would mean joining other people’s lists, spying on how other marketers make money online, reading ebooks, watching video tutorials, spending some money and possibly losing some money. This is a stage of confusion and most people give up at this stage.)
2) While studying, see how you can fit yourself into the game. In other words, you got to find out where you can best use your talent in.
3) Convert your talent into your own niche in the internet marketing game and deploy all the best practices of traffic generation to build traffic to your online business. (Spend most of your time, money and resources to generate traffic. Nothing can happen until you start having traffic to your website.)
Knowing how to find your own niche in internet marketing is probably the most important first step in making money online.
Why do I say that?
Because everyone of us has our unique talent. It’s only when we make use of our unique talent can we excel in what we do.
Internet marketing is no different.
If you try to copy the way other people make money online, yet the method does not resonate with your natural self, you will not be able to excel in that area.
For example, some marketers make big bucks conducting seminars. My question to you is, do you like to do public speaking? If you don’t and you force yourself to do that, chances are you will not do well in it.
For me, I enjoy working with technical people, coming out with innovative systems and programs that can help people. I don’t mind spending hours with my programmer, trying to resolve some technical issues. (I know these are non-income generating activities and I should avoid them, but I enjoy the problem-solving process.) That’s me. But you may be different.
Another example. You know who Ewen Chia is right? Do you know what he enjoyed doing most before becoming a successful internet marketer? He liked to compose songs!! He could be spending nights composing songs. Now instead of composing songs, he put his talent into ‘composing’ sales letters! He likes to try out different kinds of sales letters and see which one converts better, something that I don’t enjoy doing! But if you talk PHP or HTML with him, he’ll frown.
Internet marketing is a huge industry and there’re a lot of ways through which you can use your talent.
If you are good in graphic, you can leverage on your strength and provide graphic services online. You can also upgrade your skills by learning HTML and create website templates. You can sell these templates, use them to build leads or simply create websites that make money.
If you enjoy writing, you can start a blog, create content websites and make money from Adsense or by selling affiliate products.
If you have a flair in selling, you can get freelancers to create products for you to sell. Your main focus would be to write powerful sales letters that convert!
“Kenneth, what if I’m good in nothing but I just want to make money online?”
Seriously, this is impossible. Everyone is born with a unique talent. If you haven’t found your talent, that’s because you’re too lazy to find it! No one can help you if you are lazy.

There have always been do-it-yourselfers succeeding at web promotion and search engine optimization. In fact, many of the established businesses offering web services today came from humble beginnings, perhaps nothing more than a college student with a laptop, an internet connection, and too much free time. The Web evolves as the result of the innovation and experimentation of individuals. The sharing of knowledge. The do-it-yourself attitude.
As text link brokers and mass link networking decrease in value and use in social media increases, it becomes more important for companies to have an internal approach and awareness of search engine marketing. Don't get me wrong; outsourcing to SEO firms is still a smart option. That said, making the most out of Web 2.0 usually requires some level of cooperation between SEO firm and site owner. You don't need to be an expert to know the basics of good SEO practices, and that added knowledge will be a great advantage whether you're working along side an SEO team, or promoting your own site in your spare time.
So if you're on a "need to know" basis with SEO, the following points should illustrate what an overall plan should include:
1. Create Search Engine-Friendly Content
Unique web content is your most valuable asset, and ensuring search engines can read it is crucial. Text embedded in images or Flash cannot be read, so make sure you use important keywords, headings, and hyperlinks in plain text form. Instead of using images as navigation links, CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) makes it easy to format those links to look more like 'buttons', thus creating powerful anchor text as well as making it visually appealing. Use heading tags properly and don't try to hide keywords or text by making it the same color as the page background or shrinking it so it can't be seen. Make sure the keywords you wish to rank high for are used frequently in the page copy but within reason.
Now that you've created good content, is it actually being crawled? Copy and paste a page's URL into a search engine to see if it has been indexed. If you've just created the page, it may take a few days to show up. Aside from age, many factors can lead to web pages not being indexed by search engines, such as duplicate content (ie. a printer-friendly version of a page might be indexed and the normal version not, or vice versa); links generated by JavaScript instead of HTML; poor site architecture (ie. using too many sub-directories); lengthy, dynamically generated URLs using special characters; and orphaned pages.
2. Choose Your Keywords Wisely
One of the first steps of SEO, this one needs to be done properly the first time or all your future efforts and promotion could end up being wasted. Start by writing down general terms that describe your products, services or web content. Use keyword research services to investigate word and phrase variations. Wordtracker, KeywordDiscovery, and the Google AdWords suggestion tool are good starting points. The goal is to find those niche phrases that your target market uses to find sites just like yours and optimize your site for them. If the phrases do not get enough use by searchers, your profits from ranking for them will be low. At the same time, stay away from general terms that are tougher to rank for (ie. like "art", "computers", "business", etc.) as a great portion of the traffic will be irrelevant and you'll break the bank attaining such competitive phrases.
3. Get Others to Link to Your Site
In theory there are countless ways, some traditional and some quite innovative, to get other web sites to link to yours. In practice, it can be easier said than done. Google defines a link as it pertains to rankings and SEO as a "vote" from one site to another. The more quality votes your site receives, the greater chance you have of rankings well. If a well established site links to yours, that link carries more weight than one would from a mom & pop shop or less reputable page.
If your site has useful content and is doing something unique, you're already ahead of much of the competition. People need a reason to link to your site, as very few will do it out of the goodness of their heart. Trading links can work, but link exchange networks have decreased in value and won't be of much use in competitive fields. Buying links, if you haven't heard, is a big Google no-no. While entire articles could be written on this topic, here are a few popular methods of acquiring incoming links:
- issuing company press releases with a link back to your site
- submitting to reputable business directories such as Yahoo! and Business.com
- be active on related blogs by commenting and exchanging ideas
- if you have clients with web sites, ask if they would mind adding your link in a "partners" section
- participate in relevant forums and discussion boards with a link in your signature
- write and submit original articles to web publications in your field with a link in your bio
- get involved in social media and bookmarking
4. Join the Social Media Revolution
The collaboration between Internet users and the development of online communities is at an all-time high. Social bookmarking sites such as Del.icio.us, StumbleUpon, Furl, Reddit, and Technorati offer users a way to store their favorite pages and media online, and share it with others. These services also provide a way to promote your own content or create a buzz over a product or service. Creating a Myspace page or Squidoo "lens" is also a way to network and share information.
However, if your goal is to generate sales then you must offer something without the promotional hype. The reality of social media is that popularity is based almost entirely on public interest. If your information or media isn't unique or of interest to anyone, you cannot force success using social media communities.
The key to using social media and bookmarking sites to your advantage is to not be shy. Network with other users, bookmark and share useful content, create eye-catching titles for your entries, and tell your friends and co-workers to vote on content you have on these sites.
These four points are a general guideline to follow for SEO. Search engine optimization experts and firms are a good outsourcing option in competitive markets, while the DIY attitude can yield great results for web site owners with smaller marketing budgets. Let me give you an example:
2 years ago when I decided to build Adsense websites using articles from plrpro, I was not sure if I was doing the right things when it comes to Search Engine Optimization. As you know, Search Engine Optimization is very important in such model. Without traffic from the search engine, you aren’t going to make money.
The first 6 months was the toughest months because I wasn’t making much money and I was doubting if I was doing the right things. But one thing I did right was I “Kept Going”.
Today, my Adsense income is nearing 3k a month and there is no sign that this income will stop increasing!
Did I get it right the first time? I didn’t. But I succeeded, in a small way, because I kept learning and kept building more Adsense websites.
What is the best way to make money online?
If you have not started making money, DON’T ASK THIS QUESTION!

Once you've built your list of qualified leads you need to take care of them. If anybody does want to unsubscribe then you have to remove them from your list as soon as possible and ensure that no more communication is sent them to them.

Understanding the mind's role in motivation and behavior is one of the most critical elements in fitness success. If you struggle with changing habits and behaviors or if you can’t get motivated, then even the best training and nutrition program is not much help.
A fascinating fact about your subconscious mind is that it's completely deductive in nature. In other words, it’s fully capable of working backwards from the end to the means. You don't need to know how to reach a goal at the time you set the goal. If you "program" only the desired outcome successfully into your "mental computer," then your subconscious will take over and help you find the information and means and carry out the actions necessary to reach it.
Many people are familiar with affirmations and goal-setting as ways to give instructions to your subconscious mind. But perhaps the ultimate mental training” technique is visualization. In one respect, affirmation and visualization are the same, because when you speak or think an affirmation first, that triggers a mental image, being as the human brain "thinks" in pictures.
You can use visualization to plant goals into your subconscious mind. You simply close your eyes, use your imagination and mentally create pictures and run movies of your desired results. For example, in your mind's eye, you can see the "body of your dreams". If repeated consistently with emotion, mental images are accepted by your subconscious as commands and this helps with changing habits, behavior and performance.
Although there are some new and creative ways to use visualization, (which you are about to learn), this is not a new technique. Visualization has been used formally in the fields of sports psychology and personal development for decades and philosophers have discussed it for centuries:

Despite these glowing endorsements and a long track record, some people can’t get past feeling that this is just a "hokey" self-help technique. Rest assured, however, that visualization is an effective and time-tested method for increasing personal success that has been used by some of the highest achievers the world.
The Soviets started to popularize visualization in sports psychology back in the 1970's, as detailed in Charles Garfield's landmark book, "Peak Performance." They dominated in many sports during that period, which validated visualization anecdotally.
In the last 10-15 years, there has been some groundbreaking new brain research which has validated visualization scientifically. Here's something that was written recently by Dr. Richard Restak, a neuroscientist and author of 12 books about the human brain:
"The process of imagining yourself going through the motions of a complex musical or athletic performance activates brain areas that improve your performance. Brain scans have placed such intuitions on a firm neurological basis. Positron emission tomography (PET) scans reveal that the mental rehearsal of an action activates the prefontal areas of the brain responsible for the formulation of the appropriate motor programs. In practical terms, this means you can benefit from the use of mental imagery."
So much for visualization being a "cheesy" self-help technique.
Although visualization is widely used today, even people who are familiar with it often don't realize its many applications. Arguably the most common use of visualization is by athletes, musicians and other performers as a form of “mental rehearsal.” Research shows that "practicing in your mind" is almost as effective as practicing physically, and that doing both is more effective than either one alone.
A common use of visualization in the fitness context is “goal visualization.” In your mind’s eye, you can see yourself having already achieved your physique goal or your ideal goal weight. You can also visualize a specific performance goal such as completing a difficult workout or a heavy lift like a squat or bench press.
One creative way you can use mental imagery is called “process visualization.” Once you've set your goals, it's easy to come up with a list of the daily habits, behaviors and action steps necessary to reach your goal. So write down the action steps and visualize them - the entire process, not just the end result. See yourself food shopping and grabbing fruits, vegetables and lean proteins, ordering healthy foods from restaurant menus, saying no to sodas and drinking water instead, and going to the gym consistently and having killer workouts. Some people visualize their entire “perfect day” as they would want it to unfold. When you do this as vividly, emotionally and in as much detail as you can, you will be neurologically priming your brain to carry out those behaviors.
The least known of all mental imagery techniques is called “physiology visualization.” An example would be picturing the fat burning process in your body or seeing the muscle fibers growing larger and larger. Using this technique, could it be possible that you might be giving subconscious instructions to your body's cells, organs and tissues?
Well, consider the work of Dr. Carl Simonton, a physician and cancer researcher who taught his patients (as one part of a comprehensive program), how to visualize powerful immune cells devouring the cancer cells. I’m not suggesting that you can cure cancer or materialize a lean and muscular body just by visualizing, (there's a step in between thought and manifestation - it's called action - a step that many self help ‘experts’ forget to mention). However, thoughts and mental images are the precursors to action and the fact that a mind-body connection definitely exists makes this an exciting prospect.
Scientists have established the mind-body link in many contexts, and not just by the existence of a placebo effect. There’s also direct evidence as in the way emotional stress can contribute to physical disease. The mind does influence the body! The mere fact that a branch of science has been devoted to this area is proof that it deserves critical investigation and is not just the domain of infomercial self help gurus. The science is called psychoneuroimmunology.
Using “physiology visualization,” you could, even in the middle of a workout, imagine the fat burning process taking place, and visualize fat being released from adipose tissue storage in your abdominal region or elsewhere. You could see the free fatty acids entering your bloodstream, being carried to the working muscles and being burned for energy in the muscle cells. You could also visualize the physiology of muscle growth.
To make your imagery as accurate and detailed as possible, my best suggestion is to refer to an anatomy & physiology textbook that shows pictures of fat cells, blood vessels, myofibrils, motor units, sarcomeres, and cell organelles like the mitochondria, so you know what the structures look like. You could also get more details about the processes by looking up lipolysis, hypertrophy or beta oxidation.
Even if you had no idea what the internal structure and workings of the body were like, you could still use this method. Your body responds to mental imagery even if it isn't anatomically correct. Facts and logic are the domain of the conscious mind, while emotion and metaphor can slip right past the conscious and into the subconscious. One of your greatest mental powers is imagination. You can visualize anything you want and you can embellish and exaggerate your imagery as much as you want. For example, you could imagine the free fatty acids being burned for energy in the "cellular powerhouse" - the mitochondria - and you could imagine the mitochondria as a fiery furnace... Should you not believe that there's anything to the physiology visualization technique, that's ok, because we know that the subconscious is deductive. Just give it a goal, tell it what you want and it will get you there automatically by altering your attention and behavior. Therefore, we can be confident that physiology visualization will be effective even if only as a subconscious directive about your desired goal. If science someday provides us with conclusive evidence that visualization actually does cause cellular - physiological changes in the body, well, that's just all the better.

Incredible as it may seem, water is quite possibly the single
most important catalyst in losing weight and keeping it off.
Although most of us take for granted, water may be the only
true "magic potion" for permanent weight loss.
Water supresses the appetite naturally and helps the body
metabolize stored fat. Studies have shown that a decrease in
water intake will cause fat deposits to increase, while an
increase in water intake can actually reduce fat deposits.
Here's why: The kidneys can't function properly without enough
water. When they don't work to capacity, some of their load is
dumped onto the liver. One of the liver's primary functions is
to metabolize stored fat into usable energy for the body. But
if the liver has to do some of the kidney's work it can't
